Habitat for Humanity House Dedication

Both of these families' homes were dedicated. We worked Canita's house; she and her kids are on the right.


This is the frame that will hang at our church representing our partnership for this house. These two men have worked on more Habitat Houses than they can count.

I made these ghost and witch hat cookies for a Halloween Party at Youth Villages on Friday. I feel so domestic doing things like this! The company I'm working for sponsors a cabin of boys and they do something with them every month.

Habitat for Humanity

I've spent a few Saturdays recently building with Habitat for Humanity. Every time I volunteer I learn some new Skillz....

This is the house at the beginning of the day with the roofing crew getting going:

Moving right along on the roof... sorry, but every picture has a bunch of butts facing me!

We took this picture after we had cut the openings for the window and outlet right the 1st time we tried. What an accomplishment! Anecia is a student at the University of Memphis who was volunteering with their Habitat for Humanity club.

All three of these women have or are getting Habitat houses. This house is Kanita's; she is on the right.

Kanita and I make quite the pair. In not one of our best moments, we set the board we were about to nail up on the top across both of our ladders and simultaneously started to go up the ladders and hit our heads on the board at the same time. Thank goodness we were wearing our hard hats! It was time to call it a day soon after that.

The roof was completed Saturday and the siding is getting there. The dedication is in 2 weeks, and they are going to have extra crews to catch up before then.


While I'm on this posting pictures of houses kick, I have to include this one a few doors down from Kanita's house. I guess it is all the yard decoration that is so interesting...

Its a Sunshine Day

The title of this post is a tribute to the episode of The Brady Bunch I watched earlier this week, and the sunshine that finally showed up this weekend.

I spent my whole day yesterday volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and it was a great day to be outside. I didn't take my camera, but I'm going back in two weeks and will take it with me then. I learned some new skills and enjoyed working with Kanita, the homeowner. She said her kids are so excited they ask if they can drive by the house all the time.

The Prodigals, a Celtic band performed at the Shell tonight. They did even fancier things with the lighting tonight:

The bass player is Bulgarian, so naturally I thought of you Kidd! You should check this band out.

And I leave you with a preview of Martha's outfit for the first day of Homecoming week. It is Color day, where each grade wears a different color. I won't insult you by telling you what color the Seniors are:)
