QUACK QUACK

Despite the title of this post, none of our recipes at the Co-op Kitchen this month contained duck. We just had a little duck to keep us company...

We made some taco soup...

Cooked some chicken for our Artichoke, Chicken Alfredo Sauce...

Chopped garlic for the soup, sauce, and hummus...
Cracked up over some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins...

Skated with paper towels on a PAM sprayed floor:)

And packed up all of our orders...
We also had fun wearing aprons my parents have had since I was born.

I spent a large part of my evening playing with this little animal...


We wanted him to be a duck, but his sure does make a cute lion!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

The Vesta Home Show is the annual parade of homes put on by the Home Builders Association. I haven't been since I was in high school, so not since being trained as a designer. I now see the world through a different set of lenses.

Danielle and I ventured to tour the homes last weekend. (Don't you love the creeper in the picture above?) My, did we find some interesting things... and some beatuiful. There were major differences in opinion between the people we overheard and our thoughts on the homes. Beauty is CERTAINLY in the eye of the beholder. Here are some of our favorites:

We were fans of this bench and those beams...

But skeptical of this ocean view and those random openings in the walls....

Band Nerds

This weekend Megan and I may or may not have been complete band nerds. After going to watch our Alma Mater band (that my sister Martha is in) perform at the Bandmasters competition we either went to Club 152 downtown to celebrate Halloween or we went to Megan's and watched tapes from all of high school band shows. You can choose which option is true:)

Moment of Fame

I've posted about the radio station I listen to in the mornings on this blog before.

Well, this morning I got up the guts to call in. They were talking about phobias and ask for callers to share their weird phobias. If you know me at all, you know I'm terrified of birds. The radio hosts were intrigued with my fear and of course asked if I have ever seen the Hitchcock film The Birds.

I'll tell you like I told them. There is no way I would ever see that movie.

I called my parents and told them to turn the radio on. So, even if my mom and I are the only two people who heard it, I was on the radio this morning.

What a way to start the day!

Weekend Update

Habitat for Humanity House Dedication

Both of these families' homes were dedicated. We worked Canita's house; she and her kids are on the right.


This is the frame that will hang at our church representing our partnership for this house. These two men have worked on more Habitat Houses than they can count.

I made these ghost and witch hat cookies for a Halloween Party at Youth Villages on Friday. I feel so domestic doing things like this! The company I'm working for sponsors a cabin of boys and they do something with them every month.
